Suburban Rail Loop
Client: Suburban Rail Loop Authority
Value: $35 Billion (SRL East)
The Suburban Rail Loop will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport with SRL East and North will be built entirely underground along new rail alignments.
Johnston PM&C have been engaged by the Suburban Rail Loop Authority since July 2020 to provide Project Management and Design Management Services on SRL East. The scope initially involved management of the Reference Design for the Initial and Early Works, including design development, constructability, and stakeholder engagement with major Victorian Utility Service Providers, as well as managing the Designer Consultant.
Despite the challenges of 2020, we were able to advance the Design significantly, which formed part of the tender documentations that were released Q2 2021. Johnston PM&C were further requested to undertake EOI evaluation and assist with preparation of the Tender documentation and development of the Project Scope & Technical Requirements (PS&TR).
The Managing Contractor was appointed in late 2021, and since then we have been embedded in the SRLA team assisting the SMEC / Arcadis Design Joint Venture in developing the Reference Design through to IFC. The most significant project milestone achieved do date is the completion of construction of the Clayton sewer Relocation, ahead of program. Johnston PM&C were part of the team overcoming significant challenges, including working around unknown services, relocating clashing services, and considerable inclement weather. All whilst minimising impacts to the public and the environment and ensuring the works were delivered safely. The success was recognised by a Ministerial event with the Premier, Deputy Premier and State Members.
