Client: Seymour White

Value: $125 million

The Port Rail Transformation Project is part of a broader strategy to improve rail freight across Victoria. The port-rail shuttle offers an efficient and cost-effective alternative to road transport for the 87 per cent of import containers that travel to destinations less than 50 kilometres from the port gate

Johnston Project Management & Consulting are delighted to be providing engineering resources to contribute to the safe and successful delivery of the unique project. The main scope for and the project involves construction of two new rail sidings, and the installation of 70,000m2 container rated pavement. Our engineering resources transitioned seamlessly into the Seymour Whyte team to manage civil earthworks, utilities, drainage, track formation and retaining walls, as well as delivering challenging rail and CSR subcontract scope.

Once complete, the $125 million dollar project will result in major rail supply-chain efficiencies which will be a big win for producers, transport operators and exporters delivering goods to the Port of Melbourne.
