Client: McConnell Dowell

Value: Part of the $15 billion upgrade

The Webb Street level crossing will  be removed with the installation of an elevated rail bridge over the road. Construction is scheduled to be completed by 2025.

Johnston PM&C are providing engineering resources to assist with the Combined Services Route, utilities, bulk earthworks, rail formations and car parks in the rail corridor. We were engaged due to our proven skills to plan and deliver complex scope in tight deadlines and to plan delivery of works in occupation under track closures. The client had a key requirement for the engineers to be commercially astute and competent in estimating, subcontract management and cost forecasting, and these skills are at the core of the engineering resources we provide.

The level crossing removal projects are one the team at Johnston Project Management & Consulting particularly enjoy due to their sustainability impacts, technically challenging solutions and outstanding community outcomes .

The LXRP focus on areas where they can have the greatest influence on sustainable outcomes:

  • Using materials efficiently and implementing sustainable alternatives where possible
  • Creating energy efficient infrastructure and minimising the energy used in construction
  • Assessing climate change risks and reducing their impact through smart design
  • Designing green space with people and wildlife in mind
