Client: Decmil

Value: Part of the $2.27 billion Suburban Road Upgrade

The Structures Rehabilitation Package saw 11 bridges and culverts (structures) across Melbourne’s north and south-east replaced, repaired, strengthened, and rehabilitated to increase safety. These structures were identified as priority locations for works as part of long-term maintenance of the road network. This package of works is part of the $2.27 billion Suburban Road Upgrade – South-eastern Roads and Northern Roads package, which is a joint investment by the Australian and Victorian Governments

Key scope items for the project include the design and construction of road and bridge works which involves:

  • Strengthen the existing bridge to accommodate 75% SM1600 traffic loading;
  • Construction of new on-structure containment barriers;
  • Upgrade to off-structure barriers; and
  • New asphalt, pavement and line marking to match existing profile.

We provided experienced engineering resources to embed into the Decmil team and deliver the complex structural scope. Johnston PM&C are proud of our involvement with Decmil and Major Projects Victoria to help successfully deliver this project, leading to improved road safety, upgrade of an existing structure to meet current requirements and reuse of surplus materials within the local community.
